What's Going On?, mixed media collage

95.00

Original mixed media work.

9.5" x 7"

This mixed-media work is one of a series of works where I explore the relationship between the "everyday" and space. I hope to highlight the idea that the “everyday” can overwhelm. Endless forms of media allow us to see everything, even the most banal moments, happening at all times to all people in all spaces, if only we had all the time in the world to view it. With my work, I want to explore the awareness we have, via social and other forms of media, of the simultaneity of so many people’s everyday lives.

I use so many different materials and media to reinforce this overwhelming feeling amidst the everyday - polymer clay forms organic frames around collage-paintings made from printed paper, marker drawings, watercolor, and acrylic painting - all mounted on a wood panel.

The scene in this small work features multiple figures sitting on stools, staring into space or at a device. The contrasting and clashing patterns on each surface of the space create a frenetic energy.

Two holes 2 inches apart on the back of the panel allow this work to be easily hung on nails.
